Incandescent is the most commonly used light bulb and usually the least expensive. An incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp or incandescent light globe is an electric light with a wire filament heated to such a high temperature that it glows with visible light (incandescence). The filament, heated by passing an electric current through it, is protected from oxidation with a glass or quartz bulb that is filled with inert gas or evacuated. In a halogen lamp, filament evaporation is prevented by a chemical process that redeposits metal vapor onto the filament, extending its life. The light bulb is supplied with electric current by feed-through terminals or wires embedded in the glass. Most bulbs are used in a socket which provides mechanical support and electrical connections.

Halogen bulbs are a variation of incandescent. They give the closest approximation of natural daylight, known as “white light.” Colors appear sharper under halogen light and the bulbs can be dimmed. They’re a little more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, but are more expensive and burn at a higher temperature. A halogen lamp, also known as a tungsten halogen, quartz-halogen or quartz iodine lamp, is an incandescent lamp consisting of a tungsten filament sealed into a compact transparent envelope that is filled with a mixture of an inert gas and a small amount of a halogen such as iodine or bromine. The combination of the halogen gas and the tungsten filament produces a halogen cycle chemical reaction which redeposits evaporated tungsten to the filament, increasing its life and maintaining the clarity of the envelope. Because of this, a halogen lamp can be operated at a higher temperature than a standard gas-filled lamp of similar power and operating life, producing light of a higher luminous efficacy and color temperature. The small size of halogen lamps permits their use in compact optical systems for projectors and illumination.

LED replacement bulbs Tips: LED spot light, LED track light and LED down light can be a good fit for replacing halogen bulbs.
Kindly note, you need remove the original power supply of halogen bulb, though some led light suppliers claim their led lights can be compatible with halogen driver, however, it is not energy efficient if you keep the halogen driver, in addition, the halogen drier is not good for LEDs.

The typical fluorescent gives a flat, cold light, often bluish and harsh. It is a daylight-equivalent and cannot be put on a dimmer. There are many types of fluorescent on the market: warm ones, cool ones and special-colored ones, and they typically produce more light and last longer than incandescent. Fluorescent bulbs work well to light large areas like basements or attics. A fluorescent lamp or a fluorescent tube is a low pressure mercury-vapor gas-discharge lamp that uses fluorescence to produce visible light. An electric current in the gas excites mercury vapor which produces short-wave ultraviolet light that then causes a phosphor coating on the inside of the lamp to glow. A fluorescent lamp converts electrical energy into useful light much more efficiently than incandescent lamps. The typical luminous efficacy of fluorescent lighting systems is 50–100 lumens per watt, several times the efficacy of incandescent bulbs with comparable light output.

LED replacement bulbs Tips: LED tube light is created to replace the fluorescent lamp, it is easy to purchase the led tube in the same sizes, shapes and sockets as fluorescent lamp.
Kindly note, the wiring of LED tube light is different with the fluorescent lamp, before install the led tube light, you need wire the cables in correct way according to the installation instruction. (some of led tube light may suitable with original fluorescent light fixture/bracket, you only need remove the fluorescent lamp)

Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) consume a quarter of the energy that incandescent bulbs do and last 10 times longer. Unlike the old fluorescent lights, CFLs are quiet, instant-on and have warmer, color-corrected tones. They can be used anywhere you would use a typical incandescent light bulb. CFLs contain trace amounts of mercury, a harmful substance. Although the bulbs contain far less mercury than other household items, care needs to be taken to prevent breakage. Also, when CFLs burn out, they should be recycled. A compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), also called compact fluorescent light, energy-saving light, and compact fluorescent tube, is a fluorescent lamp designed to replace an incandescent light bulb; some types fit into light fixtures designed for incandescent bulbs. The lamps use a tube which is curved or folded to fit into the space of an incandescent bulb, and a compact electronic ballast in the base of the lamp.

LED replacement bulbs Tips: Same as incandescent lamp, the CFLs bulb can be replaced with led bulb.
Kindly note, the lumen of CFLs bulb is higher than incandescent lamp, which means it is more brightness than incandescent lamp.

#2 Soft white V.S. Daylight white V.S. Cool white -1000 bulbs

The light color will affect people, there have been a number of studies on how the color of light affects us. For example, bright cool light during the day helps increase mood, alertness and productivity.At night, warmer light helps us sleep better and relax so in the morning we’re less grumpy. Blue light at night can negatively affect our circadian rhythm, our internal clock that tells us when we should sleep and when we should wake up. Light color even affects how we perceive time. Time appears to pass faster with blue light than it does with red light and blue colors suppress appetite. Bright lights also make it hard for you to go to sleep compared to dimmer lights.

Light Color Affects Our Vision: Our brain adapts to how we see light. If you’re sitting in a room lit by incandescent lights at night you may not even realize that everything has a yellow or orange hue caused by the light. Sometimes this makes it difficult to differentiate between colors. Have you ever spent a long time at the paint store or paint department selecting the perfect colors for your walls only to have the room look like a completely different color when it dries? That’s because the store’s lights have different color characteristics than the lights in your room. That’s why you should always check the color with samples in your room. It’s easier to interpret colors correctly with daylight bulbs.

From our sales report, most of customers prefer soft white, also called ware white for their bed room. 2700K – 3000K is the most popular color temperature for home lighting.

4000K – 4500K (4200K), we call it neutral white, which is whiter than soft white, is the most popular color temperature for commercial lighting. Customers from shop, super markets and garages prefer this light color.

Soft white: In general, the color temperature under 4000 kelvin can be called Soft White/Warm white, 2700-3500K is the most common kelvin, which can be used when people need comfort, ease and warm surroundings. It is widely used for living rooms, bedrooms, lobby and hallways.

Daylight: Daylight color temperature is in the range of 5000K to 5700K, when it is a sunny day, the daylight at noon is 5600K, but sunlight color temperature can be very different based on time of day and weather conditions. To give the perception of daylight (bluish white light), use light sources with a color temperature of 5000K or higher.

Cold white / Cool white: color temperature begin with 6000K can be named cool white, the higher color temperature is, the more blue light color will be.
Daylight and cool white led light (4500K – 7000K) for outdoor and task lighting, office building, bathrooms, school and public area which need bright light. The higher the Degrees Kelvin, the whiter the color temperature.

#3 LED Bulb Brightness -1000 bulbs

It is easy to find the lumen on the gift box or the sticker label of the led light.

Lumens directly measure just how much light the bulb gives out in total. On average, a 60-watt incandescent shines at 800 lumens, with roughly 50-100 lumens of difference above or below. The variance depends on manufacturer and age of the lamp. LEDs are directly rated for their max lumen rating and last much longer without dimming of the bulb.

High lux vs high lumens

Two bulbs, one displaying a “high lux,” the other emitting high total lumens that are being dispersed fully in the reflector.
Most older LEDs have high lux in one direction, as the light is focused, but they don’t “fill up” the housing. I’m sure we’ve all seen poorly-designed LED bulbs on the road, where you can see high lux, but low total lumens. Remember, just because a bulb “looks bright” does not mean it will perform better.

Sometimes high lux is good: you might see us refer to an LED bulb with an integrated focusing lens as “high-lux,” which might be great for backup light applications, where you just want light directed behind your vehicle. However, for most replacement lights, they should evenly distribute the light, just like the factory incandescent. That way, the light housing can do its job and distribute the total light in the way it is designed. High lux is not always beneficial, but it’s always best to have as many lumens as possible!
