Feature #1 LED Type
Mainly three types of LED source:
1.COB LED, Chip on Board (COB) high bay luminaires. Bridgelux is the famous brand among the COB LEDs. This type is the most popular one during these years, well, is it the best one? Let’s see the luminous efficiency of COB LED, normally, it is from 65-85 lumen per watt, it is not good enough for being the best LED high bay light.
The beam angle for COB LED is usually narrow from 35-90 degree, due to the requirements of anti-glare, the light source will be put inside of reflective aluminum cover. However, it is the cheapest solution among the three types.
2.SMD LED, the manufacturer adopt many super bright SMD LEDs such as 2835, 5050,etc. Most of the bay lights from Gorgeous Lighting Co.,Ltd. are produced by SMD type.LM-79, LM 80 tests and reports are performed in accordance to IESNA standards.
What is the difference between COB and smd cree led high bay?
COB version LED high bay light usually made in several pieces COB LEDs integrated in one board, the LEDs are placed in the center of the light, the output light from one point is very strong, it will be uncomfortable for people that one place is too bright.
However, SMD LED version is different. We install many pieces of SMD LEDs in the aluminum plates, and made these LEDs being a light surface rather than just a point. The output light is more uniform, and the luminous efficiency is the highest among the three types.
3. High Power LED,such as 1*3w,1*1w are the general light source for street light and tunnel light, high bay light is made with high power led as well. The light distribution of high power LED version bay light is similar to the SMD type, however, the price for high power LED is usually much higher than the SMD one, and the requirement for thermal management is higher for high power LED, which produce higher heat than SMD version.

Luminous Efficiency Comparison
- COB LED: Luminous efficiency is around 65-85lm/w, the maximum lumen is 85lm per watt.
- SMD LED: Our patent SMD 5050 LED provide 100-130lm/w, which is much higher than COB one.
- High Power LED: It’s light efficacy usually between 80 to 120 lm/w.
Luminous Flux is one of the value shows how brightness the LED high bay light will be. It is obviously that the luminous flux (unit:lumen) is determined by the LEDs. Which type of LED will be applied, how many LEDs will be used and what is the power efficiency? I will clarify the power efficiency later. Anyway, LED type and the quantity are two of the main factors determine the brightness.
Luminous Intensity (unit:lux):
Intensity is like brightness, and is measured as the rate at which light energy is delivered to a unit of surface, or energy per unit time per unit area.
LUX is the unit of illumination intensity, which is another measurement of light.
Just because a high bay light has a higher lumen output, doesn’t mean it will “appear” brighter when you look directly at it. Looking directly at the source of light will tell you the lux, or amount of light that specifically reaches your eye. Some LED high bay lights are designed with projectors to focus the light in one direction, and that will make them very bright in one direction, or a high lux, but from another angle, the brightness will decrease sharply.
Feature #3 LED Light Color
The material used in the semiconducting element of an LED determines its color. The two main types of LEDs presently used for lighting systems are aluminum gallium indium phosphide (AlGaInP, sometimes rearranged as AlInGaP) alloys for red, orange and yellow LEDs; and indium gallium nitride (InGaN) alloys for green, blue and white LEDs. Slight changes in the composition of these alloys changes the color of the emitted light.
Warm white(2700-3500K) can be used when people need comfort, ease and warm surroundings. It is widely used for living rooms, bedrooms, lobby and hallways.
Natural white (4500-5500K) and Cool white led light (6000-7000K) for outdoor and task lighting, office building, Bathrooms, school and public area which need bright light.
However, there is a study showing that, warm environments don’t just make us more productive – they also make us happier. In my opinion, the color temperature under 4000K can be used for some places need warm surroundings(I call it relaxing area), and the color temperature 5000-5500K can be used for work or study area, the color temperature above 6000K can be used for the area where needs the brightest light.
Bi-color led strip light: normally not bright enough for task lighting, it is a good supplementary lighting. The RGB color is also mainly for decorative lighting purpose, which is mainly adopted as the decorative lighting for entertainment venues.
As for LED high bay light, most of the lights are installed in warehouse, workshop, exhibition building, which generally require the color temperature in 6000K-6500K cool white.
Feature #4 LED Lifespan
COB LED, the manufacturer of COB led claimed it is unto 50,000 hours same as SMD LED and high power LED. If we take the light decay into consideration, COB LED has higher rate of light decay than the other two types.

Lifetime
The average life expectancy of most LED drivers is around 50,000 hours. LED drivers protect LEDs from voltage or current fluctuations, as a result, if there has a problem with LED driver, it will damage LED light. If the driver or power supply provides a current or voltage that is too high, LEDs will suffer overdrive and will either fail short of their lifespan.
#3 Dimming Function
LED dimming performance is determined by Driver capability and compatibility with the dimming equipment. Multiple compatibility issues are rooted in circuit level interactions between the LED Driver and dimmer. Good LED dimming solutions are available today. Dimming can reduce energy consumption and enhance a space’s function.
Drivers can enable dimming and color-changing or sequencing of LEDs. LEDs are easily integrated with circuits to control dimming and color-changing so that these functions can respond to preset commands or occupant presence or commands.

At the beginning, as for the light construction,we put the thermal management in the first place, as a result, our thermal management perform very well by working with our scientific heat sink.
