Some customers don’t know what is the beam angle, we would like to tell you something about it.
The beam angle of a lamp is the angle at which light is emitted from the lighting source.
LED light come with different beam angles allowing you to choose how much light you direct over an area of your room.
An average beam angle for a domestic setting is between 30-120 degrees.
Narrow beam angles tend to be spot lights and are used to highlight particular areas or objects within a room. You will often find LED lamps with narrow beam angles being used above kitchen work surfaces where food preparation takes place. These areas benefit from focused light on a specific area, rather than a wider area of illumination.
LED lamps with a wide beam angle tend to be known as flood lights.
There is no set right or wrong beam angle, although the wizard on our site predetermines the most suitable beam angle to suit your needs. However, the easiest way to establish what beam angle most suits your needs is to look at what you have already got and consider whether it needs to be wider or narrower.
